Organised in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Seychelles and Air Seychelles, the initiative showcases the island’s world-class healthcare facilities to the Seychelles travel trade
A carefully curated familiarisation (fam) trip bringing together travel agents from the Seychelles arrived in Sri Lanka this week, organised by Andrew The Travel Company, in a landmark initiative to position Sri Lanka as a premier medical tourism destination for the Seychelles market.
The trip, organised in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Seychelles and Air Seychelles, which operates weekly direct flights between Mahé and Colombo, gave participating agents an in-depth look at the island’s impressive healthcare system.
Delegates visited four of Sri Lanka’s leading healthcare institutions — Lanka Hospital, Asiri Hospital, Hemas Hospital, and Siddhalepa Ayurveda Hospital — experiencing first-hand the breadth of medical services available, from cutting-edge modern clinical care to traditional Ayurvedic wellness treatments that Sri Lanka has been renowned for over centuries.
The initiative reflects growing demand from the Indian Ocean island market for high-quality, affordable medical procedures and wellness therapies, with Sri Lanka increasingly recognised as a competitive destination combining healthcare excellence with hospitality.
Mahen Kariyawasan, Chairman Andrew The Travel Company commented saying “This fam trip has been a game-changer for our travel trade partners. Seychelles agents are now well equipped to confidently recommend Sri Lanka as a medical tourism destination to their clients.”
