Anantara Kalutara Resort marks its 10th anniversary this September, celebrating a decade of luxury hospitality, meaningful journeys and a distinctive sense of place on Sri Lanka’s west coast. A Legacy Shaped by Geoffrey Bawa 

At the heart of Anantara Kalutara’s identity is an architectural story connected to Geoffrey Bawa, widely regarded as the father of Tropical Modernism. Bawa began the design of the property in 1995, with a vision for architecture that would exist in harmony with the surrounding landscape. The project was later completed by his protégé, Channa Daswatte, while retaining the spirit of Bawa’s original concept. 

Today, open spaces, natural light, tropical gardens and a strong dialogue between architecture and water continue to define the resort, creating a distinctive sense of place and an expression of luxury rooted in Sri Lanka.
