Cinnamon Grand Colombo Celebrates 50 Years of The London Grill and Welcomes Celebrity Chef Phillip Davenport

Cinnamon Grand Colombo marks a remarkable milestone as it celebrates 50 years of The London Grill, Sri Lanka’s pioneering fine-dining establishment, with a series of exclusive culinary experiences featuring renowned visiting chef Phillip Davenport.

To commemorate the golden jubilee of this iconic restaurant, a press event was held at Cheers, Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The London Grill, established in 1975, has long stood as a hallmark of sophistication, elegance, and culinary excellence. From its early days in a converted colonial townhouse to its present-day reputation as a trailblazer in fine dining, the restaurant continues to be a beloved institution in Colombo’s gastronomic landscape.

As part of the celebrations, Cinnamon Grand Colombo has invited acclaimed chef Phillip Davenport to take over the kitchen for two distinctive degustation experiences this month. Known for his dynamic flair and global culinary footprint, Chef Davenport will present a wine-paired six-course dinner as well as a creatively curated malt-paired menu during his stay.

Chef Davenport, who trained at Sydney’s Park Hyatt and Sheraton on the Park, has helmed prestigious kitchens including Hugo’s in Bondi and KU DE TA in Bali. With more than three decades of experience, he now adds international appeal as the host of the Netflix culinary series Eating Inn.
