Colombo’s hoteliers will trade their uniforms for walking shoes on Saturday, 31 October, as the Marriott Sri Lanka Business Council stages its annual Road to Give Walk-a-thon. This year, every step goes towards the education of more than 15,000 children across the island.
Now an established fixture on Sri Lanka’s hospitality calendar, Road to Give brings together the teams of Sheraton Colombo Hotel, Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort, Courtyard by Marriott Colombo and ITC Ratnadipa, joined by corporate partners, families and members of the public, in a shared show of support for the communities these properties call home.
The 2026 edition supports World Vision Sri Lanka’s SHIKSHA Project, an initiative that improves the learning environment for more than 15,000 students. The project’s work spans digital classrooms, upgraded school facilities, nutrition programmes and new recreational spaces, giving children better conditions in which to learn, grow and play.
All funds raised through the Walk-a-thon will go directly towards the project’s programmes, helping to meet real needs in the communities it serves.
For the Marriott Sri Lanka Business Council, Road to Give is a practical expression of the group’s purpose. Each year, associates who spend their working days caring for guests turn that same spirit of hospitality outwards, towards the people and places around them. The aim is lasting impact: supporting initiatives that empower individuals, strengthen communities and help build a better future for Sri Lanka.
Participants will set off promptly at 6.30am from Sheraton Colombo Hotel, with the walk concluding at Courtyard by Marriott Colombo. Individuals, families and corporate teams are all welcome to join.
Those wishing to register, explore sponsorship opportunities or make a donation to the SHIKSHA Project can contact the organisers on +94 11 767 8000. Early registration is encouraged.
As the organisers put it, joining the Road to Give is about more than taking a step. It is about helping to build a stronger, more inclusive future for Sri Lanka, one stride at a time.
