Global Buyers from 27 Countries Head to Colombo for SL MICE Expo 2026

More than 120 international hosted buyers and media representatives will meet Sri Lankan suppliers from 5–9 October, as the island steps up its bid for a bigger share of the global business events market.

More than 120 international hosted buyers and media representatives from 27 countries will arrive in Colombo next month for SL MICE Expo 2026, the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) has announced.

Taking place from 5 to 9 October 2026, the fifth edition of the country’s flagship business events showcase will connect decision-makers from key source markets with Sri Lanka’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. The Expo forms part of the SLCB Marketing Plan 2026 and builds on the strong momentum of previous editions.

SL MICE Expo began in 2021 as a virtual initiative. It has since grown into a leading international platform linking Sri Lankan MICE suppliers with global buyers, media and industry stakeholders, opening new avenues for business development, partnerships and collaboration.

Hon. (Prof.) Ruwan Ranasinghe, M.P., Deputy Minister of Tourism, said the Government recognises the MICE sector as a key driver of tourism growth. He welcomed SL MICE Expo 2026 as an important platform for showcasing Sri Lanka’s MICE potential to international buyers and media.

Mr. Dheera Hettiarachchi, Chairman of SLCB, said the strong international turnout would create valuable opportunities for Sri Lankan industry partners to build lasting business connections and partnerships with overseas markets.

Sri Lanka’s appeal to event planners lies in its remarkable variety within a small footprint. Golden beaches, ancient kingdoms, wildlife sanctuaries and misty tea country all lie within a few hours of one another. This allows organisers to pair a conference or incentive programme with pre- and post-event experiences that few destinations can offer in a single trip. The island’s proud cultural heritage and living traditions add further depth, giving delegates the chance to combine business with authentic cultural and leisure experiences.

  • A business forum exploring current trends and opportunities in the MICE industry
  • An inaugural plenary session with distinguished keynote speakers
  • B2B meetings connecting international hosted buyers with Sri Lankan MICE suppliers to generate leads, partnerships and future business
  • Networking events for international and local professionals to build long-term relationships
  • Destination experiences showcasing Sri Lanka’s tourism, cultural and leisure offering
  • Familiarisation tours giving buyers and media first-hand exposure to the island’s MICE capabilities and destinations

The Expo will give Sri Lankan suppliers direct access to international decision-makers and influential media. Through it, SLCB aims to deepen ties with key markets and attract more conferences, incentive groups and business events to the island. The benefits are expected to reach well beyond Colombo, supporting tourism enterprises and local communities across the country.

SL MICE Expo 2026 marks another significant step in SLCB’s drive to position Sri Lanka as a world-class MICE destination. It is a destination that pairs value, connectivity and warm hospitality with the professional capability to deliver successful international events.
