Blue Lanka Tours Supports Timely Flood Relief Efforts in Sri Lanka

Following the recent flooding caused by Cyclone Ditwa, which moved across Sri Lanka between November 27 and 28, relief and response efforts have continued in several affected areas where access has been limited and conditions remain challenging.

Recognising the immediate need for practical resources on the ground, Blue Lanka Tours made two motorboats available to support ongoing rescue and relief operations. With roads submerged and certain communities temporarily cut off, water transport has been essential in reaching families, delivering essential supplies, and assisting authorities with assessments and evacuations.

The fibreglass boat and Suzuki 2-stroke outboard motorboat were handed over to the Disaster Management Centre at a critical time, strengthening the ability of response teams to operate efficiently in flooded areas. Built to manage demanding conditions, the boats are currently supporting relief activities where mobility by water is required.

Looking beyond the immediate response, the boats will remain with government authorities as permanent assets. They can be deployed for future flood response, preparedness activities, routine rescue operations, and community support in vulnerable regions, ensuring continued value over time.

Relief operations are being coordinated by Sri Lanka’s authorities with the support of the armed forces, volunteers, and partner organisations. Across the country, community groups and individuals have also come together to provide assistance, supplies, and support where needed.

At times such as these, timely action and collaboration play an important role in supporting recovery and continuity. Blue Lanka Tours is pleased to contribute in a practical way, in keeping with the wider spirit of cooperation and resilience seen across Sri Lanka.
