Human capital and talent to be the focus of the professional conference at FITUR Talent

FITUR Talent, the section organised by the International Tourism Trade Fair in collaboration with RRHHDigital and sponsored by Randstad, presents the programme for its new edition, to be held on Wednesday 21 January at FITUR. The conference, focused on talent, training and people management as essential elements for the evolution of the industry, will be held under the slogan “Talent that transforms. Human capital as the key to the future of tourism”.

The section is hosting its programme in the new Knowledge Hub, located in Hall 12 of IFEMA MADRID, which will be showcasing the latest innovations related to the tourism industry. In this way, FITUR Talent will be a professional meeting place where tourism experts, companies and students can share strategies for attracting and retaining young talent, advancing in the digitalisation of human resources and reinforcing ongoing training. New initiatives linked to well-being and mental health, inclusive and diverse leadership policies, as well as sustainable solutions to tackle absenteeism will also be on the agenda.

The FITUR Talent programme will kick off at 11.00 am with the official welcome that will open this professional conference dedicated to talent as a factor in the transformation of the tourism industry with an overview and current context. Along these lines, the first panel discussion of the day, entitled “Tourism does not wait: keys to attracting and retaining talent” will highlight the current challenges in attracting and retaining professionals. During the session, an analysis will be made of the new demands of the labour market; the role of the new generations and the digital skills required by today’s tourism industry.

The keynote talk  “Redefining tourism from the people viewpoint: talent strategies for sustainable growth”, which will have representation from Randstad management, will be focused on exploring the vital role of people in the development of tourism.

The round table “Transform or disappear: the importance of ongoing training and the digitalisation of Human Resources” will bring together training departments, EdTech platforms, tourism companies and personnel managers to discuss the need for constant updating of skills and the impact of the digitalisation of human resource processes on the efficiency and competitiveness of the industry.

The trialogue “Caring for people: well-being and mental health in the tourism industry” will be a session on caring for human capital. In this block, experts in HR, psychology, trade unions and corporate well-being will discuss strategies that promote mental health, prevent work-related stress and foster healthy working environments in hotels, agencies and tourism service companies.

“Inclusive and Diverse Tourism: working for equitable leadership” will address inclusion and diversity as core areas for the development of the industry. The different actors involved will be discussing the implementation of policies that ensure equal opportunities and promote inclusive leadership at all levels of the industry.

Finally, to bring the conference to a close, the round table “Absenteeism in tourism: diagnosis, causes and sustainable solutions” highlighting one of the industry’s main challenges in terms of people management. Made up of HR and occupational risk prevention professionals, destination managers and institutional representatives, this round table will reflect on the causes of absenteeism and the sustainable solutions that can be applied by companies and public entities.
